Earrings for A Wedding

May 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

I was able to get the earrings for my co-worker’s wedding done today.  I was afraid with Kida and Kylie around that it would be difficult but somehow they were both being very good.  I even managed to make a fun pair of earrings (no photo of this though).

Class of 2009

May 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Not high school or Bachelors but Doctor of Pharmacy.  I am extremely proud of my husbands accomplishments.  Never did I imagine in my life to mary a man whom would one day be called Doctor.

Yesterday, we attended husband’s graduation dinner.  The photo is a shot while they were still getting things ready.  After I took a couple of shots, they came by and closed the door. :-P

Left to right: Classmate and his fiance, me, husband, and another classmate.

This morning was the big day.  At 8am husband, the girls and I rushed to the ceremony where he was officially granted the title of Doctor of Pharmacy.  Afterward, there was a small breakfast where husband and his classmates were approached by the school’s paper to take a photo and to talk about a classmate who had passed away during their second school year.  In the photo, they are signing a release.

After the breakfast was the convocation where they were hooded.

View facing the stage.  The building there was a military hospital in 1918 when the campus was still a military base, known as Fitzsimons.

The family.

Hats off! Husband said he’s always dreamed of this day, when he can throw his cap as high as he wants.

More photos will be posted on my myspace within the next few days.  I took so many photos that I’ll need to weave through for the best ones.

Mangia Bevi Cafe inside Palazzo

May 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Just south across the street from the building I work is a new building that went up just within the last year.  The building is called Palazzo and is a gorgeous building next to the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre (where Kida and I went to see Jewel/John Legend and the Jonas Brothers/Demi Lovato).  I believe the Palazzo is a business building but the first floor hosts the Mangia Bevi Cafe and the Madden Museum of Art.  My co-workers and I went to have lunch at the cafe and sat outside in the beautiful weather.  This was our first time at Mangia Bevi Cafe.  The food was pretty good and the service, excellent.  We had wanted to tour the Madden Museum of Art but didn’t have enough time.

Mangia Bevi Cafe.

Shawna and Katy.

Katy invited me to her wedding this mid June (back in her hometown of Minnesota) but I won’t be able to make it.  I’ve been working on earrings for her maid of honor and brides maids and hope to get them done by this weekend.  I’ll post photos once I am done with them.  I have also been doing her makeup, mostly eyes right now due to the limited time we have at work.  Hopefully, she’ll like one over the others and take photos of them back to her hometown to have someone there do her makeup.  I am not sure what kind of gift to give her and her fiance…

Kida’s last day of 1st grade is tomorrow.  She’ll be going into 2nd grade this fall!  Tonight I gave her a big hug and big good nite’s kiss.  She is growing so fast.  Here she is wearing makeup.  I only allow her to wear makeup in the house.

And here’s Kylie.  This morning I just had to snap a few shots of her because she was willing to pose.

Mother’s Day

May 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Nothing speaks clearer than a simple card.

My Mother’s Day was celebrated by going to Village Inn for breakfast.  Our waitress gave me a white carnation and my two girls drew on blank cards.  It was a very relaxing and simple Mother’s Day.

Last Thursday, I was invited to Kida’s school for a Mother’s Day Poetry reading.  All the moms got to sit in front of the classroom with their child as their child read a poem to them.  Kida’s poem was about ghosts.  There was a boy in the class who got to read his poem twice because the first time his mom wasn’t there yet.  He read his poem about an angry hotdog and both times, the poem was different. LOL.

I got myself some makeup stuff for Mother’s Day.  Go to my beauty blog to see it: Anything Beauty Blog

This morning, I wanted to capture some blooms in the front yard but it was too windy so I wasn’t able to get too many clear shots.  These yellow tiny flowers are quite attractive.

The spider plant is having babies again!  I’m going to have to pot these soon.  I think there’s about 5 or 6 right now and more are growing.

Happiest Day of My Life

May 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday was the last day of husband’s rotation and the happiest day of my life!  He is officially done with school!!!!!!!!! BOY, is that feeling great or what!  It was 4 years ago that he got accepted into Pharmacy school and 3 years of pre-reqs before that and 4 years for his BS before that.  I am exhaustingly happy because we both put so much work in making sure he gets through + we had another baby just to add craziness into the mix.

When I came home yesterday from work, I dropped by the store to pick up some flowers and a card for him.  Tears fogged my vision as I tried to hold back the tears but as soon I saw him, I cried.  I was so happy, overwhelmed, relieved, anxious all at once.  I feel so greatful for having this opportunity to accomplish a dream that we drempt together.

The commencement ceremony is in less than 2 weeks and we are barely getting the invitations out.  Time just flew by so by the time I realized announcements had to go out, it was too late to order or design something more elegant but with the help of the Internet, I was able put this simple announcement together.  On the back side husband added the school’s insignia and the quote he had put on his entrance essay, which said, “Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be.”
